Children living with HIV

Children living with HIV must have access to timely diagnosis and effective, child-friendly and age appropriate treatment and care.
This population is often forgetton and face a unique set of challenges, particularly when paediatric ARVs 💊 are hard to swallow or tolerate.
In line with WHO, the NACP/MOHS has recommended Paediatric Dolutegravir (pDTG) 10mg for children living with HIV who are 1 month and older and weighed 3Kg to 19.9 Kg.
Until now, DTG has only been available for adults and children 20Kg and over. pDTG is much easier to administer and offers many benefits for children compared to other ARVs. pDTG 10mg has the potential to be a game-changer

HAPPY had the privilege to do a presentation titled 'Accelerating Access to pDTG for Children living with HIV ' in a 3 day pDTG roll-out Workshop conducted by the NACP/MOHS for its Partners and District HIV Supervisors.
The presentation was geared towards demand creation as this transition is a major step forward but will be meaningless if it does not quickly reach the children who need it most. We must work together to FIND, TEST & TREAT children who are in need of pediatric Dolutegravir
